3 Best Digital Practices

In an age where everything is digital, your business can either flourish or tragically fail. While an online presence is not the only thing that drives revenue for a business, it’s definitely one of the most underutilized tools. Here are 3 of the BEST digital practices you can implement today to start taking a piece of the online proverbial pie.

  1. BE PRESENT
    • You may read this and say “well, duh,” but hear us out for a minute. Yes, your company might already have an online “storefront”, if you will, but how often are you actually available for someone to reach you there? It’s not enough now to just be able to be found online, you must be able to be interacted with online. This doesn’t meant that you’ve got to man your digital presence around the clock, but you should make it a habit of checking in and starting conversations with your consumers. Chances are, if you aren’t willing to answer a simple question via a direct message, someone else is. The earliest bird to respond gets the worm, right?
  2. STAY UP TO DATE
    • Okay, so you’ve got your website up and running and your social media can be found. Now what? If your customer hits up your social media and the most recent post is from 2018, there’s a good chance they look no further. In their mind, you’re either out of business, or you’re irrelevant. Neither are good for business. Your digital presence should be an extension of your company, meaning that your customers ARE interested in the day to day or what you have going on. If they weren’t, they wouldn’t take the time to look for you. Have a special on the menu for the week? Post about it! Running a discounted service package? Include those promotions online. Keep your customer as engaged online as you would want them to be in front of you.
  3. BE CONSISTENT
    • We aren’t just talking about the amount of content and frequency you post, either. What’s so often missed is a consistency with your brand voice and how you want your company presented. One of the most “amateur” things a company can do is switch up a tonality from website to social media, as well as from one person posting to another. Want to present your business as the business entity itself? Stop replying to comments as “I’ll check on that for you”, or by referring to your business in the first person. Do multiple people have access to your social media accounts to help you post and respond to customers? Make sure you are regularly enforcing how you want your business to be presented, and in what way you want to speak to your consumers. Is your company’s “personality” light-hearted and energetic, or are your professional and to the point?
